Venus Williams Set To Face Serena Williams In India
03.07.2008 BANGALORE-- Venus Williams Friday defeated 7th seeded Vera Zvonereva in the quarterfinals 6-4, 6-3 and faces her sister and 3rd seed Serena Williams in the semifinals. Head to head Venus is tied with Serena 7-7 and won their last meeting at the 2005 US Open 7-6(7-5), 6-2.

The all Williams match is not scheduled to be shown on television in the USA, but you can follow the scores live here and get information about how to watch the match free online on the internet. This is a tough match to call, but I'm picking Venus as I think she may be hitting her serves and groundstrokes a bit more consistently than Serena. Venus's match is the second semifinal of the day with the first semifinal starting at 7:30am CST USA. We estimate Venus will take the court at 9:00am CST USA.

Venus Two Matches From Playing Serena Williams
03.06.2008 BANGALORE-- Venus Williams Thursday defeated Shuai Peng 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 and takes on 7th seeded Vera Zvonereva of Russia Friday in the quarterfinals. Head to head Venus leads Vera 3-1 but those matches were all years ago so don't matter much as both are different players now. Should Venus and her sister Serena Williams both win their Friday quarterfinals, then they would play each other in Saturday's semifinals. Venus has not played her sister in more than two years. Venus won their last match at the 2005 US Open 7-6, 6-2.

Venus Williams Opens Thursday At Bangalore
3.05.2008 BANGALORE-- Venus Williams is playing singles and doubles this week at Bangalore. Thursday Venus opens against Shuai Peng of China. Head to head Venus leads Peng 1-0, winning at the 2005 Australian Open 6-3, 6-1. Venus has lost 3 of her last 4 matches which is strange and she hopefully will be able to pick up some wins this week in Bangalore. Venus could meet her sister Serena Williams in the singles semifinals. Serena is Venus' doubles partner this week.

Venus Williams Loses Memphis Opening Round
3.05.2008 MEMPHIS-- Venus Williams At Memphis lost her opening round to 17 year old qualifier Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 4-6, 3-6. I talked to a journalist who was at the match and he said Venus did not play anywhere near her best in the second and third sets. He said she said she would play Memphis again in 2009. The journalist also got some impression that Venus was paid a lot of money to "show up" in Memphis.
