Warsaw Singles Draw Released
04.28.2007 WARSAW-- The singles main draw for next week's J&S Cup has been released and Venus got as pretty good a draw as could be expected
being unseeded. At least tough clay courters Jelena Jankovic and Justine Henin are on the other side of the draw. In round one most likely Tuesday
or Wednesday, Venus takes on Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands. The two players have never played before, but Krajicek is a tough clay courter
who reached the quarterfinals in her last tournament at Charleston beating top seeded Nicole Vaidisova so Venus must be ready to hit a lot of balls.
Venus Williams Visits A Friend In Texas
04.27.2007 IRVING-- Venus Williams hopped on the back of a golf cart with PGA player Hank Kuehne and her hitting partner Baris Ergun Thursday
after Kuehne's first round of the Byron
Nelson Championship golf tournament in Irving, Texas. Good to know she is enjoying her offtime with a friend. Some good news too. In the featured
image above left, the person to Venus' left is her tennis hitting partner so she is practising in Texas, possibly for next week's tournament in
Warsaw. Venus met Ergun a few years ago in Istanbul, Turkey as he was her hitting partner
for that tournament as arranged by the tournament.

in her right knee. Vania King substituted and the USA won 5-0 to advance to play Russia on July

matches live. Venus' sister Serena Williams is set to play match two today.
Venus Williams Loses In Charleston Semifinals
04.14.2007 CHARLESTON-- At the Family Circle Cup semifinals Venus Williams started well going up a set and a break but then
lost to Jelena Jankovic 3-6, 6-3 7-6(7-5). Williams hit 34 winners to 54 errors including 13 doublefaults. "I'm just tired. I've had a long week
and I did my best. I'm just going home," said Williams. "The encouraging part is that, if I just clean up my game some, I know I can play
a lot better."

Venus Williams Wins, Gets Jelena Jankovic Rematch
04.13.2007 CHARLESTON-- Venus Williams at the Family Circle Cup quarterfinals defeated Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain 6-4, 7-5.
Saturday Venus plays 2nd seeded Jelena Jankovic in a rematch of their last meeting and Wimbledon third round match from last year
where Jankovic won 7-6(10-8), 4-6, 6-4. After losing that match Venus took an extended break from the WTA Tour due to a wrist injury.
Venus leads Jelena head to head 2-1, but Jelena is one of the best players on the tour so tomorrow's match could be difficult.
Venus Williams Makes Charleston Quarterfinals
04.12.2007 CHARLESTON-- Venus Williams today in the third round at the Family Circle Cup defeated qualifier Yung-Jan Chan of Taipei 6-2, 6-1
in just over one hour, hitting a 125 mile per hour serve in the process. Friday in the quaterfinals, Venus takes on Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain.
Williams has never played Garrigues before. Garrigues had only won two matches this year before this week, but being Spanish she most likely
prefers clay so Venus should be ready.
Venus Williams Wins, Into Charleston Third Round
04.11.2007 CHARLESTON-- Venus Williams Thursday in the third round at the Family Circle Cup takes on seventeen year old qualifier
Yung-Jan Chan of Taipei. Venus has never played Chan before, but earlier in the week Chan scored a win over Serena Williams when
Serena was forced to retire with a hamstring injury down 3-5 in set one in round two. Chang has only won two other matches this year
so maybe Venus will not have to fight too hard to win.
Venus Williams Could Play Serena Thursday
04.07.2007 CHARLESTON-- The singles draw for next week's Family Circle Cup to be played in Charleston, South Carolina was released
today. Venus Williams in round three Thursday could meet her sister and Australian Open champion Serena Williams. ESPN2 is
scheduled to show round three live Thurday so the Williams versus Williams match would most definitely be televised live if it happens.
Venus Williams' Errors, Golovin's Consistency Costly
04.06.2007 AMELIA ISLAND-- Venus Williams lost to (8)Tatiana Golovin of France in today's quarterfinals 6-2, 6-3 after making a start full
of errors. Williams trailed 6-2, 4-0 before pulling her game together somewhat to mount a charge, but then Golovin played a smart dropshot,
a winning volley plus moonballs. Venus at the end was playing well but it was too late as she was already fighting a very consistent Golovin.
Venus seemed to be also bothered by a blister which was wrapped in her right hand.

Venus Williams Into Amelia Island Quarterfinals
04.05.2007 AMELIA ISLAND-- Venus Williams round two Wednesday regrouped after dropping set one to beat Patty Schnyder
3-6,6-3,6-4. Today Venus defeated fellow American Meilen Tu 6-2, 7-5 in the third round. Venus now is 5-0 lifetime versus Tu and
next plays (8)Tatiana Golovin of France in Friday's quarterfinals. Golovin is a rare player who leads Venus is their head to heads.
She leads Venus 1-0 winning at Charleston 2005 7-5, 6-4, but as I remember Venus played a long night match the night before
she played Golovin and was too tired to perform at a top level, so I expect Venus could very well beat Golovin, who granted
is a very good player.
Venus Williams Wins, Plays Patty Schnyder Next
04.04.2007 AMELIA ISLAND-- Venus Williams at the Bausch & Lomb Championships round one Tuesday defeated Aravane Rezai
6-1, 6-2. In round two tonight Venus plays Patty Schnyder. Williams leads Patty 8-0 head to head last winning at the 2006 French
Open 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Patty's a crafty left-hander so Venus should watch out.
Venus Williams To Play Tuesday At Amelia Island
04.02.2007 AMELIA ISLAND-- Following her early exit from last week's Miami Tier I, Venus Williams has entered this weeks'
Bausch & Lomb Championships to be played at Amelia Island, Florida on clay. Venus most likely is looking to get more
rankings points to try to reach her goal of being seeded in the top 16 at the French Open, which would mean she would
not have to play a top player until the fourth round in Paris. In round one Tuesday night Venus plays Aravane Rezai of
France. Venus has never played the 59th ranked Rezai before.
